Veneers

If you’re unhappy with your smile, there is no reason you can’t change it! Dental veneers reshape your entire mouth to your liking. They are made of thin, durable porcelain placed over your natural teeth. Say goodbye to stained, broken, chipped, or gapped teeth! Drs. Navid and Faranak Rahimpour offer these to their patients at Southern Cross Dental. To learn more, contact our office in Colorado Springs, CO.

The entire veneer process takes between 2-3 appointments. The first is more of a consultation. You can ask any questions you have about the process while learning more. If you decide to go forward with veneers, you start making your aesthetic choices.

There are many options and variables for your veneers. The shape is the first major choice. Veneers are either rounded or square. Female patients usually prefer the rounded option while men go for the square. Your Colorado Spring, CO, dentist is happy with whatever shape you pick, regardless of gender. The next choice is the shade of the veneers. You can pick anywhere from a natural white to Hollywood-level brightness! The decision is yours.

Next, we prepare and measure your teeth. The teeth are smoothed down to make the application of the veneers easier. We then create an impression of your teeth. This goes to a dental laboratory to create your customized veneers. It will take about 10-14 days for their creation and delivery. In the meantime, you’ll receive temporary veneers. At your final appointment, the veneers bond to your teeth.

Never settle for anything less than the best when it comes to your smile! Southern Cross Dental helps you get the smile you deserve. To schedule an appointment with Drs. Navid and Faranak Rahimpour, call their office in Colorado Springs, CO, at 719-471-1717. You can also visit their website at https://www.scdsmile.com/.

Veneers Transform Your Smile

If your teeth suffer some undesirable defects, such as being cracked, chipped, or discolored due to stains, you may be a candidate for porcelain veneers. Dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored materials that are designed to cover the front side of teeth. They are an ideal choice if you wish to improve your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility and we provide them to Southern Cross Dental patients.

Veneers are an excellent alternative to crowns in many situations because they offer a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth’s color, size or shape. Because dental veneers are an irreversible process, it is critical that you are involved and informed every step of the way. Once the veneers have been placed, one of our doctors will explain the corrective limitations of the procedure.

If you wish to learn more about veneers, please give us a call. To learn about the services we provide at our practice, visit www.scdsmile.com for more information. To schedule an appointment with one of our doctors at Southern Cross Dental in Colorado Springs, CO, call 719-471-1717.

Teeth Whitening

Everyone likes to be able to present their brightest and whitest smile. At Southern Cross Dental, many patients ask our staff about over the counter products, and have tried them with underwhelming results.  Instead of winging it with retail products, come see us for a consultation and get your own custom whitening system!

During a consultation, your dentist will examine the level of staining on your teeth and be able to tell you what kind of results you can expect from the whitening system. To whiten your teeth at home, you will be fit with custom whitening trays made from molds of your teeth.  For a treatment, apply the whitening gel directly onto the trays and fit them over your teeth.  Your dentist will advise how often you should treat at home and how long each treatment can last.  Following dentist’s instructions, patients have seen this system whiten their smiles 4-8 shades!

Benefits of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is an excellent way to repair teeth that have been chipped, cracked, or broken, and restore them back to their natural function. Dental bonding is a procedure in which one of our doctors at Southern Cross Dental will place a tooth-colored resin material to an impaired tooth, and harden the material with a special light. This procedure only takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete and is a cost-efficient way to enhance one’s smile.

Dental bonding is additionally used to improve the appearance of discolored teeth, to close gaps between teeth, and as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam (silver) fillings. Dental bonding has cosmetic properties but is also used to restore and protect teeth from further damage. There is little to no preparation needed for a dental bonding appointment and anesthesia is often unnecessary. If you have teeth that could use a little enhancement, explore your options, today.

If you have questions or concerns regarding dental bonding, please give us a call. To learn about the services we provide at our practice, visit www.scdsmile.com for more information. Teeth Whitening

Patients are always asking the doctors and staff of Southern Cross Dental about how they can get their whitest and brightest smile, and have often tried over the counter products with mixed results.  The best way to see results from whitening is to have custom trays made and follow dentist instructions for application of whitening gel.

When a patient wants to begin the teeth whitening process, we begin with a consultation.  Based on the level of staining, a dentist can project what results can be expected.  Then, impressions are taken of the upper and lower teeth are taken.  These impressions are sent to a lab and used to create trays customized the patient’s teeth and bite.  On a second visit when the custom trays have arrived, a dentist or staff member shows the patient how to fill the trays with whitening gel and then fit them over the teeth.  Whitening treatments can be received in the office and monitored by a dentist, and completed at home following instructions from the dentist.

Porcelain Veneers

The doctors and staff of Southern Cross Dental are often asked about the latest cosmetic fixes for teeth.  There are treatments available for whitening or masking chipped teeth, but veneers are the best way to completely makeover your smile.  Our porcelain veneers are made from a thin ceramic shell and fit over your existing teeth.  Patients with cosmetic issues like staining, cracked or chipped teeth, and even crooked teeth and small gaps can achieve a gorgeous smile with veneers.

Fitting a patient with a new set of veneers is usually completed in two visits.  You and your dentist will discuss the shape and look you desire for your new smile, and your dentist may need to prepare the teeth by buffing or shaping any areas that could cause a problem with fit.  Accurate impressions of the mouth are then taken, and sent to a dental laboratory where your new custom veneers are fabricated.  On your final visit, the teeth are cleaned to ensure a great bond for the veneers.  The shells are then bonded to the surface of your teeth for you to wear home and wear forever!

Dental Crown Procedure

Dental Crown Procedure

Our doctors at Southern Cross Dental usually recommend dental crowns to patients who have large fillings, broken teeth or cracked teeth. A dental crown is a fixed prosthetic device that is cemented onto existing teeth or implants. The purpose a dental crown serves is to strengthen a particularly weak tooth that needs to be held together or requires a dental bridge, or to enhance the appearance of a tooth if it is extremely discolored.  If you’ve been told you need a dental crown, allow us to explain how the procedure works to prepare you for your appointment.

The procedure for installing a dental crown is usually completed in two separate visits to the office. During your first appointment, one of our doctors will examine the tooth in question to guarantee that it will support a dental crown. Once this is confirmed, the doctor will begin preparing the tooth for the crown. You will then be fitted for a temporary crown while your permanent one is constructed in a dental lab. Once your permanent crown is ready, you will have your second appointment where it will be placed.

Teeth Whitening Perks

How many of us get a confidence boost when a stranger gives us a compliment? Have you ever paid attention to how much of a positive effect this has on your self-esteem? The same positive feeling can result from teeth whitening. Teeth-whitening is an excellent way to restore the natural color of your teeth or even make them whiter than your natural color if you would like. Here Southern Cross Dental, our doctors can help you do just that.

With all of the lifestyle habits and environmental factors that have the ability to stain our teeth on a daily basis, even proper maintenance sometimes leave them a little dull. Fortunately, through our whitening system, your pearly whites can revive their shine. In addition, teeth-whitening can also take years off of your appearance. This is because as we age, over time, our teeth darken and can become yellow, brown, or even develop a green or gray tint (which may be due to heredity and/or eating habits). Your smile speaks volumes about who you are and leaves an everlasting impression, so it’s only natural that you want it to be as radiant as possible.

Cosmetic Dentistry Defined

From subtle changes to major repairs, at Southern Cross Dental we offer a variety of procedures to improve your smile. While traditional dentistry addresses the health of your teeth and gums, cosmetic dentistry focuses on the appearance of your teeth, mouth, and smile as a whole. Today, cosmetic dentistry is more popular than ever, from whitening and shaping to closing spaces and replacing teeth. But before you decide to undergo any cosmetic procedure, it’s important to know what you can expect during the process.

At Southern Cross Dental, some of our cosmetic procedures include teeth whitening as well as applying veneers. Teeth whitening is a common and popular chemical process that brightens teeth that have become discolored or stained. Depending on the patient’s preference, this can be performed by one of our doctor’s in-office or in the comfort of your own home. Veneers, on the other hand, are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. They are thin pieces of porcelain or plastic placed over the front teeth to change the color or shape of your teeth.

Show Off Your Smile

With selfies and instant photo sharing taking over the internet, our doctors at Southern Cross Dental want you to have a camera-ready smile at all times. With a variety of cosmetic services to choose from, we can enhance your smile anyway you’d like. However, if there is any reason you can’t go the cosmetic route at this moment, we will provide you with these tips that will give you a photogenic smile no matter what.

  • Be natural – when it’s picture time, smile gently. That way, your face looks relaxed. Your mouth opens slightly, and your lower lip matches the curve of your upper teeth.

  • Check your teeth and gums – getting your smile camera-ready sometimes calls for a little behind the scenes prep work. If your pearly whites have yellowed with age, try an over-the-counter whitening product or pay us a visit! Also, don’t forget about taking care of your gums. They play a critical role in your nice smile. So keep them in good shape by brushing, flossing, and rinsing with a mouthwash every day.

  • Practice – your perfect smile may not happen overnight, but if you have a big photo event like a wedding or a graduation coming up, it doesn’t hurt to try out your grin in front of the mirror!

Consequences of Missing Teeth

Although tooth loss is typically associated with the elderly, missing teeth can occur in adults for a variety of reasons. Whether you’ve lost a tooth to decay, or injury, tooth loss can rob you of much more than the ability to chew and properly digest food. It can have serious social, psychological and emotional consequences as well. At Southern Cross Dental, we don’t want you to experience the consequences of a toothless grin. This is why we offer a wide variety of restorative and cosmetic options to give you the smile you’ve always dreamed of.

The most obvious effect of missing teeth is aesthetic. When a tooth is lost, the facial muscles begin to sag, making you appear older than you are. Additionally, missing teeth will make it more difficult to chew and may even affect the way you speak. The more teeth a person is missing, the more challenging the task to replace them can become. It can also be costly. It is important to have regular dental visits with us to prolong the life of your teeth.

If you have missing teeth, please give us a call to discuss your treatment options. Options for Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a very popular desire for people. Keeping our smile looking good is usually a top priority of our aesthetic appearance. Here at Southern Cross Dental, we offer several options for our patients in the Colorado Springs, CO area looking to improve the look of their teeth.

Inlays and onlays are often referred to as partial crowns. They are made of porcelain and restore a tooth that has a little less damage to it than one needing a crown. Inlays restore the inside of the chewing surface. Onlays restore the same area, plus one or more cusps of the tooth. Inlays and onlays are durable and long-lasting. We also offer crowns for more extensive damage. Being made of porcelain, inlays, onlays, and crowns restore your teeth for a natural-looking smile.

Dental veneers are available to our patients who want to create an attractive smile without major surgery. Veneers are thin, porcelain shells placed over your teeth to fix the look of gaps, cracks, discoloration, and misshapen teeth. They are stain-resistant, so white and bright teeth are possible for a long time with good care.

To whiten teeth, we offer in-office bleaching and custom take-home whitening trays. Professional whitening is the best route to go for safe, effective whitening. Our whitening systems often produce fast and dramatic results.
