The Importance of Flossing

At Southern Cross Dental, we noticed that a lot of patients skip flossing regularly. While flossing is time-consuming, it is important for maintaining good oral hygiene. Flossing helps you to clean the areas of your teeth a toothbrush simply cannot reach. On average, about 40% of debris on your teeth can only be reached by flossing.

When food gets stuck in between your teeth, it allows plaque to build up and can cause bad breath and cavities. When flossing, we advise our patients to use floss that is 15-18 inches long. Don't forget to curb the floss around each tooth while rubbing it up and down to scrape away any plaque and debris.

Don’t forget, flossing daily helps to prevent tooth decay, gum disease and ensure you have the healthiest teeth possible. Your oral health is our number one priority at Southern Cross Dental!
